The cosy living area centres around a multi-fuel stove, perfect for relaxing evenings after a day exploring the islands. Although there is no TV, the atmosphere paired with reliable WIFI encourages you to truly unwind and switch off.
Every detail has been carefully considered—from handcrafted joinery to clever storage and layout solutions. A set of beautiful, steep, cottage-style stairs leads to the upper floor where you’ll find:
A welcoming double bedroom, shower room & a small landing area. The bedroom also includes a charming built-in bunk, suitable for one child aged 5 or above, making the space ideal for couples, solo guests, or small families.

From the main roundabout:
If arriving from the Hamnavoe ferry, take the first left.
If coming from Kirkwall over Howe, take the second exit.
If entering Stromness past the swimming pool, take the third exit.
Once you leave the roundabout, follow the road around. You will pass the fire station on your right, followed by the Blue Star Garage. Just after the garage, take the right turn up Back Road.
Continue all the way up Back Road until you reach a very small roundabout. Take the first left at the roundabout, then go straight on — do not follow the road as it curves — and continue down the hill onto Hellihole Road.
At the bottom, just before the road changes to cobbles, go straight onto White House Lane. You will see a bench outside the front door. Fisherman’s Cottage has a dark blue door with a deer head above it.
If arriving by foot or bike, you can also reach the cottage via the main street, coming up Hellihole Road from the other direction.
